Fans of The Daily Show will always recognize comedian Rob Corddry. In his time on the iconic Comedy Central series, Corddry worked alongside some of the biggest names in comedy, including Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Samantha Bee, Steve Carell, and more. Daily Show fans might not know that Corddry is an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church. Keep reading to discover Rob Corddry's history as an ordained minister and more information about his life.

Getting the Most Out of Being Ordained

Rob Corddry has been outspoken about getting the most out of being an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church. He has officiated two weddings and has even used his status as a member of the clergy to get free parking in New York City. He's spoken about how exciting it has been to be able to park at churches in the city because it has saved him thousands of dollars over the years.

Corddry is an enthusiastic minister, if, at times, unconventional. The comedian said that he didn't prepare for his role when he officiated the wedding of two close friends in 2012 in New York City. He felt that it would be more authentic if he didn't rehearse. At the end of the day, he and his friends were more than satisfied with the ceremony and party. Corrdry still speaks about his memories of that wedding fondly.

Studying Improv and Shakespeare

Contrary to what it might seem, Rob Corddry didn't start out in comedy. The Massachusetts native has a love for Shakespearean plays that runs very deep. He studied English as an undergraduate and participated in the college theater program in plays such as Romeo and Juliet and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. After college, he even toured with the National Shakespeare Company, and he still professes a love for the Bard to this day.

While wrapping his mind around Shakespearean English, Corddry also studied improv. It was this second skill set that would eventually land him in front of Jon Stewart, who Corddry thinks of as a mentor and friend.

Corddry's time on The Daily Show helped him establish a reputation both in New York City and Hollywood, and he went on to take roles in both movies and television. Some of his most recognizable parts post Daily Show include Lou in Hot Tub Time Machine, both the original and the sequel, M in Warm Bodies, and Joe in Ballers. Corddry also co-created the award-winning animation series Children's Hospital.

Making a Life in New York and LA

While auditioning for TV and film and then while working on The Daily Show, Corddry lived in New York City. He married his wife, Sandra, in 2002, and the couple had their first child in New York City in 2006, a daughter named Sloane. The family remained in New York City for some years, and Corddry and his wife had another daughter, Marlo, in 2008. The city is still close to Corddry's heart even though he now lives with his family in Los Angeles.

Rob Corddry doesn't live in the Hollywood limelight, even now that he is in Los Angeles. He seems to place a lot of value on the life he has built with his wife and daughters. The actor regularly appears with his wife at red-carpet events, and he occasionally posts about his daughters on social media. His new projects might take him away from home from time to time, but he has a solid foundation to return to.

One of many celebrity figures moonlighting as an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church, Corddry has been vocal about how he feels now that he can officiate weddings. Using his status as a free parking pass is one thing, but it definitely seems that Corddry can't wait to officiate more weddings in the future.
