She took on this responsibility as a way of presiding over the wedding of her good friend, comedian Alan Carr, to his partner.
According to Adele herself, she offered to take on the role of officiant. Not only did Adele become a minister for Carr’s wedding, she also took on all of the responsibilities related to planning the event.
